The potential injuries that Georgia residents might suffer in a serious motor vehicle accident are seemingly innumerable. Broken bones, spinal cord injuries and even traumatic brain injuries are all possible, among many others. Most people, however, don’t think of burn injuries as a potential result from a car accident. But, the fact is that burn injuries can occur and, depending upon the severity of the burn, the treatment for the injury may last for weeks, months or even years.

Burn injury possibilities

The burns that people suffer in motor vehicle accidents are usually much more extensive than burn injuries that occur in other circumstances. Some of our readers may have even suffered minor burn injuries before – even second-degree burns – and probably were mostly able to treat the injuries from home or with one or two trips to their doctor. However, deep burns or burns that cover more area on a person’s body will likely require significant medical treatment.

For example, if a car accident victim suffers burns to the face or mouth area, that victim may require assistance breathing. A feeding tube might even become necessary. With deep burns, skin grafts become a possibility in the treatment regime, as healthy skin is used to replace scar tissue from burn injuries. Plastic surgery may even be required as time goes on.

Each injury is unique, so the treatment that will be required will be unique as well. But, if your burn injuries were caused by a motor vehicle accident that occurred due to another party’s negligence or recklessness, the costs for your treatment could be covered if you are successful in a personal injury claim.
